1. By fiber type: In most regions of China, asbestos fibers are used for reinforcement, and cement boards reinforced with these fibers are referred to as chrysotile asbestos fiber cement boards. The other type is asbestos-free fiber cement boards, in which pulp, wood chips, and glass fibers are used as substitutes for asbestos fibers to provide reinforcement; these boards are collectively known as asbestos-free fiber cement boards.
2. Classified by density: low density ranges from 0.9 to 1.2 g/cm³, medium density from 1.2 to 1.5 g/cm³, and high density from 1.5 to 2.0 g/cm³. Low-density boards are typically used for applications such as low-end architectural ceiling and partition walls, while medium-density boards are commonly employed in mid-range architectural partitions and ceilings. High-density boards are generally used for high-end buildings, including steel-structure exterior walls and steel-structure floor slabs. According to national building industry standards, fiber-cement boards in China are divided into two main categories. Typically, manufacturers are unable to produce ultra-thin or extra-thick boards—this fact serves as an important benchmark for assessing the production capacity and technological level of companies within the industry.
