Fiber-reinforced cement boards (commonly referred to as cement boards) are a type of building cement board made primarily from fibers and cement. Thanks to their superior performance, they are widely used in various sectors of the construction industry. Generally, fiber-reinforced cement boards are typically used for steel-structure composite floor slabs with a thickness of 24 mm—also known as "floor kings" or "thick-board kings"—and are suitable for use in loft apartments and interior mezzanine floors.
Fiber-reinforced cement board (Commonly referred to as cement boards), these are construction-grade cement boards made primarily from fibers and cement. Thanks to their superior performance, they are widely used in various sectors of the construction industry. Generally speaking, fiber-reinforced cement boards—typically 24 mm thick—are commonly employed as steel-structure composite floor slabs, also known as "floor kings" or "thick-board kings," for use in loft apartments and interior mezzanine floors.
Fiber-reinforced cement boards are inherently heavy; moving an uncut, intact board requires at least two people. Boards with a thickness of 4mm to 6mm are considered thin and relatively fragile compared to thicker boards. Before installation, they must be handled with care—any careless movement can easily cause them to crack or get damaged. Installing fiber-cement boards requires at least two people: one person stabilizes the board’s position, while the other secures it using specialized nails. Cutting is also necessary. Fiber-reinforced cement board Usually, a chainsaw or mechanical cutter is required. There are three cutting methods:
1. Thin sheets can be cut and broken using relatively heavy cutting tools. 2. Use a fiber cutter (Australian cutting method). 3. Thick sheets or high-density boards need to be cut using a power saw.
When cutting the boards, pay attention to the wind direction and try to avoid inhaling dust. Be sure to wear a mask or specialized protective equipment. If board dust enters the lungs over a prolonged period, it could lead to health problems. After installation, you can apply various types of paint for finishing (areas exposed to the air should be coated with waterproof paint). The joints between the boards should be filled with wooden blocks, and the entire surface of the boards needs to be painted. This will help extend the service life of the boards. Fiber-cement boards that have been properly installed and painted require minimal maintenance. Thick and high-density boards offer excellent impact resistance, but thin and low-density boards need protection against external impacts. Compared to wood wall panels, fiber-reinforced cement boards are resistant to termites, less prone to rotting, and exhibit superior corrosion resistance.
Fiber-reinforced cement board What is its scope of application? Let’s all analyze it together below.
Interior and exterior walls and partition walls: fire-resistant and thermal-insulation structures; ceilings; soundproofing and sound-absorbing structures; kitchen cabinet panels, wallpaper. Curtain wall lining panels: covering steel structures; antistatic flooring, furniture panels. Application areas: Commercial buildings: shopping malls, office buildings, hotels, entertainment venues. Industrial facilities: warehouses, factory buildings, computer rooms. Residential buildings: residential communities, villas. Public spaces: interior and exterior partition walls, suspended ceilings, firewalls, curtain wall linings, ceiling tiles, steel floor slabs, fire-rated doors, external insulation boards, grouted wall panels, roof system insulation boards, large-format floor tiles, antistatic flooring substrates, exposed concrete decorative panels, exterior decorative panels, external insulation boards, external dry-hung panels, industrial insulation boards, and more.
